No time to shop, no idea what to buy xmas presents for my friends :s Nevertheless, I managed to make Valentine Heart Chocolates for my friends that filled with mixed fruits and nuts with sweetness and crunchiness! I hope they like em! Hee...

Yes, the Boonz has moved to new residential area! This time they have a swimming pool, gym, tennis court, function room, all kinda facilities @ their place! The feeling was like going to Chalet! Just nice, it was Iyonna's full month and we're celebrating xmas altogether! But Iyonna is too small to join us and she was in her xmas dreamland! ;p Oh, we had pot luck, singing xmas carols, exchanging xmas presents and playing games! The best part was singing together but our talented Uncle Gordon was running out of voice! Too bad, we could have sing more songs! Singing no enough for Esther ;p The Gay's family really know how to keep all kids occupied with toys, playing dvd kids show on the laptop, and they even bought a house tent and sponge mat! Very thoughtful! All the pot luck food were so nice! and luckily our food portion was just nice! Not like last year, we were "overfood" ;p Most of all... this gathering gave us a heart-warming togetherness and the fun-loving kids are enjoying themselves with all the uncles and aunties around them! This will be their best xmas presents ever! Hohoho!

A Warm & Hearty Christmas Evening

I was rushing ups and downs hunting for mushrooms to cook cream of mushroom soups for 15 people today! Yea, I was late again to reach the Tan's place :s Joeel was already there, carrying all the xmas presents! And they're all under the xmas tree ;) I was busy cooking the soup while Alan is the only great helper for Chef Patrina ;p And they've made an awesome couple in the kitchen! When everyone arrived, the table was spread with beautiful food for the Christmas night! Along the way, my soup was just in time to serve everybody too ;p "Mummy, next time don't cook this soup, not nice!" 5yo Janice commented. I replied her, " This is cooked by Jiumu you know"... She said " Not nice leh..." I was like this :s After all, I saw the pot of soup was left 2 bowls quantities, I was like phew... I think Kids don't like western soup... Haha, maybe... but I know everybody likes everything on the table and we're very lucky to dine and wine on the Christmas Night!

Janice's little cousin Cheryl stole the limelight on the Christmas night! She is so so cute and she looks just like the little Laura from a cartoon character! She's gentle and careful, but Janice play with her for a while and ran away to play something else :s

When I was relaxing on the sofa watching Little Nuoya, Janice jumped onto me and claimed, "Jiumu! I want you to have baby!!!" I was alarmed by her, "Who taught you how to say that???" I asked, then she replied "Nobody teach me, I said myself one, I wan you to have baby!!!" I grabbed Jeanne who was sitting in front of me and question her and she was clueless... Hmmm, I think this little Janice wanted to have a baby sibling or baby cousin to play with her...

Finally, we had our Christmas gifts exchange and eating yummy rum and raisins ice cream logcake! What a warm and hearty Christmas evening ;) Thanks for the Tan's Family for being a good host and company! Cheers!

Xmas Eve Celebration @ the Kwek Residential

" Testing I am very hungry!", " Ermm...... I know I can read my watch! lol How late?".... By the time we reached the Kwek's Residential, David was standing at the door asking us "Which country watch are you wearing???" ;p Yea, we were very late :s Came along was Little Peng Peng greeting us! Then we saw Nelson in surprise! We thought he would be in Australia! Eventually at the dining table... Wow wow wow... so many food!!! Gosh, we were obviously "overfood" for this xmas pot luck meal! :s

This year, we didn't managed to take photo together! CY was on confinement, as new born baby and she were nursing at home. Min's tummy becomes bigger, and we can tell Calvin is on the "Standby Mode". Teys, Lees and Teos went home early before the clock strike 12am, just like Cinderella in the fairly tales!

The Fongers celebrated their last xmas with us before they set off to Australia for 2 years! We're going to miss Little Tyler, by then, he will be 4 or 5yo when they're back home. The twins are healthy and cute! Val is still very shy child. Peng Peng went to the loo 4 times and the 3rd time he wetted himself cos he wana washed his feet instead of hands..."faint"... Phoena doesn't like my home baked gingerbread but Phoebe ate them all!!!

Last but not least, many thanks to the Kwek's family for putting all of us at their house :) And thanks for the little presents from CY and SL, I like the earrings! ;p Also to Eu and Den, I like the baking glove!!! This is my 3rd baking gloves ;p heee... Joeel was asking, "How come I don't have xmas present from them???" haha

So paisey friends, I thought of making something for all of you but my time is so tight and limited this year... will do it next year k! Cheers! Hohoho, Merry Xmas!

Feel so sorry for the leftovers pot luck food on the xmas eve...
Dear Friends, we know we are so generous and blessed for so many yummy food on the table, we felt terribly sorry for the food that were still in good condition but end up in the bin! :s I can't bring all of them home because Joeel and I can't eat much :s Even the Kwek's family couldn't finished them too! For the next pot luck food, we should bring less to make more, not more to make many leftovers... in fact pretty lots :s I just feel that we need more communication in food traffic, else we will end up having stomach jam... We are so lucky to have lots of food to eat but not lots of leftovers in the bin... I hope we can "wok" things out for our next gathering ;) Cheers!

CK cooks for us!

Hey! My brother can cook! CK and JY invited us to their new nest and they're gg to whip up a dinner for us ;p (cos they know I was busy baking gingerbreadbabies and have no time to cook) See what Lecturer CK is going to cook for us for dinner! ;p I was so impressed by my bro who has never cook before at home and now he's married with JY and have their own home and he can cook for his family! :p We were like "WOW"! to see all the dishes on the dining table :D Even my Mother in law was so impressed! (We asked her along cos she brought lunch and "tung yuan"for us in the afternoon)! Thank you for the wonderful home cook dinner CK and JY! It was an enjoyment! :)

Dinner for Sis

This dinner is specially cooked for Sis because she's going to Houston for a few weeks for work. Also, I haven't been cooking for my in laws for quite sometimes too, if I don't do it... when? Here's my cooking gene stirring me around again... some of my new creation dishes: "Shark Fin" Melon Fish Soup, Daikon Stew Pork Ribs, Daikon Vegetable Omelette Rolls, Lemon Chicken, Mango Baked Prawns, Garlic Vegetable... Yum...

Aiyooo... Jeanne and Janice kept bugging me for clay making!!! Restless and surrendered to them, I let them had the feel of how to make real looking cookie by using clay! Well, they enjoy and they love their little work of art ;)

Sketching At The Desk

Meowda served us nice cup of brewed coffee for coffee break during the Art Class at SiaoSiang's place today. The coffee was simply delicious and kept me alert throughout the day and the night! I couldn't sleep! What should I do... Yes! Sketch my favourite plants! Joeel took some beautiful pictures of my potted plants and I'm going to pick one and sketch! A time to keep me calm and focus...

I must say this dinner's bill surprised all of us that it's so worth and cheap! Finally we had drink @ Killinery Kopitiam, chatting no enough! Our Wonderful Vincent Bro gave all of us a lift home and we managed to reach home before 12am ;p Thanks Bro! Hee...

Strawberries Belgian Waffles

Jeanne kept bugging me to bake something for her during yesterday msn chat cos I can't join em for dinner @ my in laws' place for the next day :s Here I am, bake her favourite strawberries flavour Belgian waffles, well, invent my own recipe for this one... Found it was too wet for the dough and the texture turned out soft... Learnt my lesson ;p Will improve for the next one... I even brought some for my students, gosh, they finished em all :s Not bad huh ;p

It was a good day to bring everybody together! This time "1 stone killed 3 birds!" Everybody celebrated Little Peng Peng, Dennis and mine birthday altogether! Little PP is 3 and we're gg to be 33! & 3 of us celebrated our July birthdays! Plus the cupcakes formed a number 3! Not bad huh, can buy 4D say 3333! Coincidentally, Little PP's and his mum CY celebrated their actual birth dates this year! or maybe can buy 4D say 1719? or 3303? Opps, I always give numbers that will not win, haha! ;p Or how about ToTo say 03, 07, 19, 25, 29, 33. Not bad rite ;p Anyone who bought these number that I gave ur and if you happened to win, don't forget to give me your share k ;p maybe 10% of the prize as my birthday present k! ;p heheheh... Gosh, don't know why I kept thinking about numbers :s

Beautiful Sky Dance

Joeel kept reminding me about the Night Festival was a "must go" and "must not missed" event! Why? It was an free admission for the public to view the sky dance performance at the Singapore National Museum! The show was performed by the Studio Festi and they're all the way from Italy. My cousin from Italy claimed that they never seen this performance before and they think they could be performing internationally but not in their own country yet... No regrets, Joeel took beautiful pictures and I took some good videos of the charming performance! I must say the show was SPECTACULAR! We love it!

My Kopi Time with Iyvone ;p

Iyvone was back!

She emailed me twice to contact her sister Erica! I was so so excited and happy about it and I called Erica immediately! She was in Malaysia with her Mum! Ok, I asked her to give me a call when she's in Singapore...
After a week, on Tuesday, she called me and said: "Qiaohui! I missed u!!! Let's go for Kopi!!!!" I remembered I was in Ikea purchasing the picture frames for my students. After lodging all the stuff @ home, luckily Joeel helped me (my sweetest darling of all!) then he followed, "Go see your long time no see friend ;)"
Eventually, we got to meet @ AMK hub and Iyvone's Mum also tagged along ;p Blurred me, I forgot about my wallet and couldn't treat Iyvone kopi :s In the end, her mum foot the bill for our kopi, dinner and supper hee ;p We were stationed at one place after another and we just couldn't stop chatting until her Mum surrendered and went home instead ;p
Nevermind, tot we could talk until 11.30pm and then I could catch my last train and bus... but we chatted overtime and the time was hitting over midnight :s Finally, I gave Joeel a call and informed him I'll be late home... there, we continued our chat @ amk 24hr MacDonald Restaurant... We chatted all about good things, bad things and almost everything! Wow! We broke our marathon chat record! We chatted until the next morning 8am and we even had MacDonald Breakfast!!! Hahaha...
Iyvone was like, "Call me k, I haven't had enough chat with u!!!" The next day, we were too tired to meet up! hahaha! Joeel remarked: " You gals are so terrible :s"

Iyvone decided to stay for another week to catch up more friends and spend time with her family ;) I was so Yipppeeee! cos we can meet up again! It was our "Tai Tais'" day for 2 0f us! I made an facial appointment with Iyvone and we went facial together and relax ourselves ;p We went to the National Museum to catch up the latest event and exhibition, followed by our Kopi time @ the Shokudo Japanese Coffee House and they served the yummiest tofu cheesecake that we adored so much ;p Our kopi time was a flavorful and memorable one... I'm going to miss kopi with Iyvone again and she's flying back to London to create more Art with her darling Miguel. Good luck my dear friends and all the best happening in London !

Kopi No Enough

1 stone killed 2 birds! Betsy, Weiling and Xuehui wanted to give Jooli and I a belated and an advance birthday treats altogether! We'd sushi @ Sake Sushi restaurant ;p Kopi no enough and we headed to International Building TCC cafe for kopi and catch up our long time no see chat...Well, I received birthday presents and gifts from em ;p Weiling bought us beautiful dragonfly from her business trip, Betsy bought me a coffee from Harrods London, Jooli gave me a pair of espresso cups from NZ, and XH gave me a bed sheet! I'm glad they remember me as friend and buy gifts and presents for me... Thank You ladies! I love you all! Hee...

Long time no bake! After busying with my students' art competition these few weeks... I finally get to bake! I have been eyeing on this recipe to try out the Mediterranean muffins, I got the ingredients ready whenever I found the chance to go to the supermarket... now here they are... they are going to be our next day breakfast ;p Yum!

Father's Day Gathering 2008

Time flies and my school holiday art programs are finally over ;D Again, Jeanne keeps bugging me for another bakery session :s Okok again, let's make an easy task bakery k cos I'm going to cook Thai style dinner for Father's Day which required lots of food preparation :) We baked coconut & cherries macaroons to match the Thai theme dinner so we can serve it as dessert but we had it for tea break and appetizer instead. This time round, Dad and Alan are coming for dinner whereas Yaping couldn't make it for his work again... haha... Sometimes, it's not easy to put everyone together at the same time.
My Thai Menu: Pineapple Seafood Fried Rice, Baked Prawns with Thai Sauce, Sweet & Sour Pork, Sea Bass Tom Yum Soup, Sambal Potato Leaves Veg and Garlic Vegatable. Dessert: Bird Nest with Rock Sugar, Red Dates & Ginseng.
Thai style dinner is requested by Joeel cos he misses thai food so much and he wanted this and that for dinner :s But he helped me alot in the kitchen, cutting pineapples and washing up the dishes ;p Also, another helper cum learner is Jeanne, she learnt how to cook sweet n sour pork and pineapple fried rice ;) Next time, she can cook for us all! Haha... can't wait!

June Holiday Bakery & Dinner!

When school holidays started, Jeanne kept bugging me for baking cakes and cookies :s Okok, to have her wish fulfilled, better do it early when I was not too tight with my school holiday art schedule. Of course, bakery can't go without Little Janice ;) The girls had fun then :D The cakes and cookies became our tea break yummies ;p

After the bakery session, Jeanne continued to help me in the small kitchen preparing a feast of Japanese food for our family ;) June Holiday Japanese Menu: Salmon Shabu Shabu, Mix Veg & Ebi Tempura, Japanese Gyoza, Japanese Veg Curry, Deep Fried Pork Cutlet, Cold Green Tea Soba ;p It was a satisfying dinner for everybody... Too bad, Dad and Alan couldn't joined us for their work :s Will cook another nice meal for everybody :) Cheers!

Popo's 61st Birthday!

We'd great birthday dinner at the Rafflas City Shukudo restaurant which served Japanese food in Mache style ;p Gosh, u must try the waffles, it's fluffy and yummy especially with durian flavour ice cream! The crepes with bananas and chocolate is yummy too! I wouldn't mind going back for their dessert again ;p Cheers!

Christina's Birthday ;)

Today is Iyvone's actual birthdate but she's not in S'pore! Well, I sent her an email and how nice if we could meet up for kopi and chat which we have not done it for a long time :s Kinda miss her already... Also, I missed my girlfriends since we have not met one another since last gathering @ Christina's place and we missed the CNY gathering @ Betsy's place and didn't managed to catch up with others :s Now, finally we could take a breath out of out work and family for a little while to celebrate Christina's birthday in advance ;) Feel so nice to chat with a long time no see friends...

Waffles for my Mum!

I was helping my Mum at her food stall these few days for the Mother's Day season! And on the Mother's Day itself was a MAD HOUSE! See, I'm such a good daughter to her (Haha, all I know is I gave her troubles instead ;p) But in my mind, I was cracking my brain on how to make green tea waffles for my mum as Mother's Day yummies ;p Sigh, it wasn't my expectation cos the green isn't dark enough and the taste wasn't sweet enough plus its green tea wasn't strong enough as well... but its taste was not too bad altogether ;p Well, it was a good try! Of course my Mum was so touch to receive these waffles I made for her :p Happy Mother's Day Mama! Btw, my brothers are good boys too lah, Hoong came to help Mum on the actual Mother's Day n Koon came with some yummies from M'sia too ;p We are always our Mama's babies!

Apple & Cinnamon Glazed Honey Muffins!

These muffins are specially baked for my busy Joeel ;) At least, he has something to eat during the tea break or supper time :) Going to bring 1 to my workplace while my students are busy with their artwork ;p

Yummy Swedish Meatballs

My improved version home cooked swedish meatballs :) I mixed chopped garlic and white button mushrooms to make the gravy tastier, green is a must to go with this dish... something refreshing from Ikea :p

Home-made Belgain Waffles

Gosh, I missed Japanese made belgian waffles @ Kyoto Station so so much :s What would I do... I was searching high and low for the recipe... wanted to ask my cousin Mei from Belgium, but I couldn't wait!!! Wana ask Min's bro whom selling belgian waffles @ the beach road but it's their business recipe...Haha... Nevermind, I managed to find the recipes from websites and I'd made them ;p It was fun and it was a success cos the dough raised well! But, I realized it was very oily... hmmm... will improve its recipe to make it a better waffles when I could find time ;) I made some waffles for the BBQ gathering organized by Joe's cousins :) Along the way, we passed some to Calvin & Min ;) Guess what, all of them love it!!! Hee...

Great Escape to Kyoto & Osaka!

It was a last minute trip for me and Joeel. We had not been planning to go anywhere overseas for so long (about 2yrs) ever since we were so buried with busy schedule and work :s This time, we decided to plan a Get Away! We wanted to go Paris to see Mona Lisa, Italy to visit my cousin Amber, Belgium to visit another Cousin Mei and of cos London to visit my long time friend Iyvone n her Miguel!!! Gosh... so many places to go! But all these trip needs plan n costing :s We decided to give it a miss n plan it for the next time ;p

Hmm...Going to somewhere nearer - Japan is the choice for us! We both exclaimed the same thought... to see the Cherry Blossoms in the Spring! Quickly, we searched for the best viewing cherry blossom in Japan - Kyoto! Here're our photographs @ the flickr... we're downloading em really slowly cos there're too many of them :s Joe's foto plus mine=2000 over fotos (faint) hahaha... 2 Days ago, I just baked blueberry muffins ;p Today, I baked blueberry Jam Drops ;p Blueberry no enough... haha... baking therapy I supposed ;p

Papa's 66 Birthday

After our exciting Japan Trip, we were just in time to celebrate Papa's 65th Birthday in advance as the next day was his actual birthdate ;) We'd a good meal together prepared and cooked by my parents in law ;) They're great cook! It's always nice to eat home-cooked food... Home Sweet Home for me and Joeel ;)

Our Quickie Lunch

Very easy, very fast and delicious too ;)
Simple Ingredients for 2:
10 medium size sea prawns
4 shiitake mushroom cut into 4 quaters
Chopped garlic and small onions
1 cup washed rice grains (Japanese or Thai Fragrance Rice)
Half cup green peas
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup of Japanese soup base with 3/4 cup of water
Cracked black pepper and salt
Diced jap cucumber and cut red chillies for garnish ;)

Easy Method:
1)Preheat your rice cooker when preparing the ingredients (press down the button "Rice cook", when it's heat up the button will jump up to "Keep Warm")
2)Add olive oil (press down the button again) and cook the sea prawns with the chopped garlic and small onions
3)Take out the sea prawns when it's half cooked
4)Add shiitake mushrooms with the chopped garlic n onions
5)Follow by the rice grains and green peas, stir and mix
6)Finally add the half-cooked prawns and a cup of soup base mixed with water, stir
7)Cover the rice cooker and let it cook until the button jump up to "Keep Warm".
Serve Hot and garnish with japanese cucumber and red chillies.

Serve it with your favorite mixed fruits juices...yummy...
